Hot weather measures
Back
With the current hot weather continuing, I wanted to update you regarding arrangements for this week. While we are aware that some schools within the Acorn Academy Trust have chosen to close early, Willowbrook Primary School will remain open as normal.
We have reviewed the conditions carefully and are confident that we can keep pupils safe and comfortable throughout the school day. To support this, we have the following measures in place:
- Children will be encouraged to drink water regularly, with additional opportunities provided throughout the day.
- Classrooms will be kept as cool as possible by closing blinds, increasing ventilation and minimising the use of heat‑generating equipment.
- Outdoor activities will be adapted, limited or moved to shaded areas where appropriate.
- Staff will monitor pupils closely for any signs of heat‑related discomfort and respond promptly.
As we have class photos Monday morning, please ensure your child is wearing correct uniform. (White polo with shorts or skirt, or summer dress). If you would like to send your child with a lighter plain white tshirt for after the photos, we will give children the opportunity to change into them if they wish.
Please ensure your child comes to school with a water bottle, suncream applied and a hat.
We will continue to monitor the situation closely and follow all relevant guidance. Should anything change, we will update families immediately.
Thank you for your continued support.
Kind regards,
Lindsay Hann
